Abstract

Laser diode (LD) end-pumped solid-state lasers can provide lasers with high efficiency and good beam quality. However, end-pumped lasers have been limited to low power because the power of single stripe laser diodes for pumping source has been limited to a low level. Some techniques used to increase the output power of end- pumped lasers include pumping with high-power LD, polarization coupling of two laser diodes, fiber-bundle coupling of several laser diodes,1 and multiple ends pumping. These techniques have shown difficulties in obtaining further high power.
