Abstract
Direct drive laser fusion requires uniform illumination of a spherical target which is placed in the quasi-far field of intense laser light. Nonuniformities in the ablation pressure on the target surface should not exceed. 2 or 3%; thus very uniform irradiation must be obtained in the target plane.
