Abstract

Various higher power diode pumped laser systems using multifacet pumping have been reported.1-2 However, multifacet pumping is not suitable for intracavity doubling because of the high cavity loss caused by many reflections. Berger et al.3 have proposed employing parallel pumping using a fiber bundle, bat there is difficulty in coupling multiple broad area lasers to a fiber bundle of small diameter pump power limited to a few watts.
