Abstract
The 430.5-nm strontium vapor laser is one of the best candidates for a high average power, high repetition rate pulsed laser operating in the blue-violet spectral region. We have investigated the gain of a longitudinal discharge strontium laser as a function of both time and radial position in the laser tube in a variety of operating conditions to determine the saturation parameters and the mechanisms responsible for limiting the average output power.
