Abstract
Whisper gallery mirrors (WGMs)—concave structures which deflect short-wavelength radiation through a series of glancing-angle reflections—provide interesting possibilities for laser cavity design.1,2 WGMs can offer reflectivities comparable with those obtained from normal-incidence multilayers, but in many other respects the technologies are quite dissimilar.
