Rotational dependence of hyperfine coupling constants in molecular bromine

Abstract

We report the measurement of the rotational dependence of the hyperfine coupling constants of Br2 by means of high resolution sub-Doppler laser spectroscopy. Several vibrational bands were measured over a wide range of rotational levels, extending previously reported data to much higher rotational energies and providing the first measurements for others. Since at highly predissociating rotational levels the fluorescence emitted is greatly diminished, any method relying on the observation of fluorescence cannot be used for levels above J ≃ 50
