Abstract

Through advances in semiconductor miniaturization technology, microrelief patterns with characteristic dimensions as small as the wavelength of light can now be mass-produced. In a classic example of technology transfer, this capability is allowing optics designers, for the first time/ we believe, to create innovative optical components which promise to rejuvenate a failing U.S. optics industry.
