Abstract

We report on the implementation of the chirped pulse amplification (CPA)1 technique on a cw-pumped nigh-repetition-rate Nd:YLF regenerative amplifier.2 In contrast to the initial CPA work, the Nd:YLF amplifying medium has a bandwidth much smaller than the chirped seed pulse. We study in detail the effects of gain narrowing and gain saturation, where over 100 round trips are expected to influence the amplification process and to reshape drastically the temporal and spectral profile of the amplified pulse.
