Abstract

Preionization switching is an appealing method for initiating homogeneous discharges in excimer lasers because it considerably relaxes the requirements imposed on the switching elements used for the discharge circuit. Thus it has great potential use for industrial lasers if repetition rates, output energy, and efficiencies become comparable with those of conventional excimer lasers.
