Abstract

The F2+ color center in LIF has been shown to be a reliable source of tunable radiation extending from 0.8 to 1.0 μm.1 By exploiting the technique of synchronous mode-locking pulses as short as 700 fs have been generated from this type of laser in a ring resonator configuration.2 However, the high peak powers associated with the Kr+ pump source induces an orientational bleaching effect1 which leads to degradation in the stability of the output LiF:F2+ pulse train.
