Abstract
The Aurora laser system, under construction at the Los Alamos National Laboratory for the past few years, is now being integrated into a working system for examining the applicability of high-power KrF lasers to inertia) confinement fusion (1CF). The design principles of the system have been described in detail in earlier publications and conferences.1-3 Muitikilojoule 248-nm 5-ns duration laser pulses, which have been derived from angular-multiplexed electron-beam-driven KrF amplifiers, are to be delivered to IGF targets when the system is fully integrated.
