Chemical ionization stability of a space discharge in CO2 media

Abstract

In pulse-periodic, sealed-off e-beam-sustained, and TEA CO2 lasers, a space discharge contracts after 103—106 shots. This phenomenon is now attributed to the formation of electronegative complexes like CO3 and CO4 whose concentrations became comparable with the electron concentration as the O2 content in the gas mixture reaches 0.5-2%.
