Abstract

Demonstration was made recently of chaotic behavior in an optical resonator with a BaTiO3 phase-conjugate mirror (PCM).1 We describe a model for a resonator using a Kerr-type PCM which predicts period doubling, the appearance of higher-order cycles, and chaotic behavior in the transverse-mode structure.
