Abstract
It is well known that efficient high-energy pulsed CO lasers can be built exploiting electron-beam-sustained discharge techniques, The efficiency of these lasers is superior to that of similar CO2 lasers. Already in 1974 Mann et al.1 reported output energies of 100-J/liter discharge volume and electrical efficiencies up to 63%.
