Abstract
Use of staring array detectors in robotic vision systems and object tracking systems is limited to applications involving small fields of view and/or steerable optic systems. Some military target tracking systems, for example, use costly gyrostabilized optical systems to fix the target’s image on the staring detector arrays as host vehicles move in serpentine paths toward the target. Similar relative movements between objects and optical vision systems are encountered in robotic vision systems.
