Abstract
Multiple-stripe lasers show considerable promise as a source of high-power monochromatic continuous optical energy.1 Reliability data on such lasers operating at 100 mW of cw output power has been reported recently.2 These lasers were operated at about 1.6 mW/μm of optical power per unit stripe width, and the question of reliability at even higher power densities is of interest for certain applications, such as pumping Nd:YAG lasers.3
