Abstract

AlGaAs laser diodes have a unique advantage in pumping solid-state lasers due to the ease of tailoring an array output to the 800-nm absorption peak in Nd:glass or the 810-nm absorption peak in Nd:YAG. In addition, laser diodes offer significantly higher efficiencies than other optical pumps.
