Abstract

(F2+)A centers in alkali-halide crystals have been used recently for producing efficient, stable, and broadly tunable cw lasers. To extend the usefulness of these materials to applications requiring a pulsed laser with high peak powers, e.g., chemical dynamics and nonlinear spectroscopy, we have constructed an oscillator-amplifier system, each stage consisting of an additively colored KCI:Li crystal pumped transversely by a 1.41-μm laser.
