Abstract

Short light pulses from diode lasers have been created via injection of short current pulses and by microwave modulation. While the light output1 and gain2 of diode lasers have been measured under such transient conditions, they have never been measured together to give a more complete picture of the dynamics of a diode laser. We report here on measurements of both the carrier density and light output of pulsed GaAlAs diode lasers.
