Measurements of strong fluctuations in intensity in laser propagation through atmospheric turbulence: correction for the nonlinearity of the receiving apparatus

Abstract

A procedure is described and applied to correct the experimental data of intensity fluctuations for the nonlinearity effect caused by the detecting apparatus. We have theoretically shown that the higher-order intensity moments also can be seriously affected by a small nonlinearity.
