The Nova laser diagnostic system characterizes the beam quality, energy, and temporal properties of the laser beam at key locations along the laser chain. These data are used to determine laser and target performance, diagnose component failures, and prevent damage to optical components due to excessive energy densities. These measurements must be made at the fundamental operating wavelength of the laser (1-053 µm) and at its second and third harmonics (0.53 and 0.35 µm).
