Abstract
A compact digital audio disk system has been developed drawing on the technology of the optical video disk. Direct recording of digital audio signals on the optical disk in digital format yields sound of a quality which surpasses that produced by the conventional analog disk. More than 1 h of music can be recorded on a single side of a 120-mm diam high-density optical disk. Audio performance and disk format are shown in Tables I and II, respectively.
