Abstract

Operation of the O2-l2 laser based on chemical production of O2(1Δ) is well demonstrated and rep- resents an important high-power laser.1 Present experimental-theoretical studies are examining the possible use of direct generation of the O2(1Δ) via nuclear pumping [vs the chemical O2(1) generator] which would be very advantageous for operation with nuclear energy sources.2
