Abstract

In a heterodyne communication system using semiconductor lasers, the frequency noise and intensity noise of the laser directly affect the performance of the system. Recently, we reported that the photo-current noise power density NP generated inside a photodetector when illuminated by a GaAlAs semiconductor laser is approximately given by the following expression1.
