Abstract

We have earlier described optically addressed operation of high-speed GaAs FET logic circuits.12 More specifically, using picosecond light puises from a cw mode-locked dye laser, we have demonstrated complete logic level switching in NOR gates and inverters and logic function control thereby. The latter was achieved by toggling a D-flip-flop in the divide-by-two mode at the repetition rats (78 MHz) of the optical pulse train from the mods-locked dye laser.
