Abstract

The development of high-repetition rate fast discharge lasers, such as those of the rare-gas halides or HgBr, places severe demands on presently available pulse power systems. Typical requirements of such systems are dV/dt > 1012 V/sec, dl/dt > 1012 A/sec, output impedances of ≲ Ω, and output voltages and currents in the tens of kilovolt and tens of kiloampere range, respectively. Equally important. however, are system lifetimes in excess of 108 shots.
