Abstract

The CF4 laser represents a very challenging and interesting quantum electronic system. It is also useful for a number of applications. This paper will discuss the current status of the optically pumped CF4 laser relative to the fundamental molecular issues involved, the laser results achieved, and the new applications that are suggested. Directions for future research and development will be mentioned.
