Abstract

During the last ten years a substantial change has occurred in the education of engineering students of all disciplines. This has resulted from a number of factors including (1) high demand for engineering students during the late 1970s, (2) the high cost of education, (3) the high salaries for graduate students, particularly at the Ph.D. level, and (4) the continued lack of interaction of universities and industrial concerns.
