Abstract

A unique optical fiber geometry and interface coupler subsystem have been developed which provide two low-loss optical channels within a single optical fiber. This concentric-core optical fiber subsystem is applicable to duplex or two-channel transmission where extremely small fiber size and weight are required, for example, in aircraft, spacecraft, fiber guided missiles, or other special purposes.
