Abstract

Generation of phase conjugated wave fronts is desired in many fields such as optical communication or image processing, since it gives real time restoration for degraded images. The application of nonlinear optics has been investigated intensively as a promising method for this purpose.1 Recently, the usefulness of a corner-cube array as a convenient and simple means for this purpose has also been reported.2 In the latter method, however, the conjugation of the wave front is accomplished essentially only within each corner-cube element. Hence smooth conjugation over a large aperture cannot be realized, and the range of applications is restricted.
