Using a laser scalpel to analyze dendritic spikes

Abstract

A dendritic spike is a vital computing mechanism in neurons and spikes occurring in complex dendritic arborizations are difficult to probe. Here, we use laser dendrotomy to study dendritic spikes in oblique branches of cortical neurons.
