A comparison of instrumental techniques to assess skin color and correlation with human perception

Abstract

A variety of instrumental techniques are available to assess skin surface color, including colorimeter, spectrophotometer, diffuse reflectance spectrometer, spectrofluorimeter, and digital photography. The sensitivity and dynamic range of each instrument is evaluated, along with the relationship to human perception.
