FEM model based optimization of transducer geometry for photoacoustic imaging

Abstract

We optimize the design of an ultrasound transducer for photoacoustic breast imaging using FEM analysis. We arrive at a detector design which shows significant improvement in image quality when used in photoacoustic tomographic simulations.
