A postoperative complication in cataract surgery is that the implanted intraocular lens (IOL) does not have optimum vision. Hence, there is a need for a postoperative focal length tuning of IOLs. We have developed polymers where we can non-invasively induce a change in refractive index which is great enough to be interesting for the concept of in vivo tunable IOL’s by employing a photoinduced cycloaddition reaction.
