Haemodynamic response measured by NIRS to physiological intermittent cerebral activation during quiet sleep in healthy and sick premature neonates

Abstract

Simultaneous NIRS and EEG recordings in premature neonates, six healthy and four presenting neurological distress (29 to 35 weeks GA) showed bursts of neuronal activity during quiet sleep are associated with a stereotyped haemodynamic response.
