We used optical coherence tomography to characterize the morphological phenotype of a HEXIM −/− embryonic heart (E13.5) from a HEXIM +/+ littermate. The HEXIM-mutant was distinguished from the wildtype, by growth retardation (absent left ventricle) and asymmetry.
