Abstract

An efficient and fast simulation technique is used to calculate the confocal imaging contrast through anisotropically scattering media when time-gating techniques are applied. Optimal time-gate width is found to depend on object reflection characteristics, and forwardscattering media enhance imaging contrast only for non-absorbing objects.
