Abstract

We describe the development of depth-specific imaging devices for imaging neural activity in vivo using voltage-sensitive fluorescent dyes. Results from phantom fluorescent object tests show that gradient index (GRIN) lens devices demonstrate promise for imaging scattered light fluoresence signals from deep (up to 150 pm below the surface) cortical layers.
