Abstract

We report an all-optical, actively Q-switched, all-fibre laser utilizing an ultrafast laser-inscribed, wavelength-tunable, apodized fibre Bragg grating. The tailored spectrum of the apodized point-by-point gratings enables an order of magnitude improvement in pulse duration.
