Abstract

Label-free optical biosensors have been long used for biomolecular interaction analysis. Here I review recent advancements of resonant waveguide grating (RWG) biosensor systems for whole cell sensing, and discuss how to characterize receptor signaling and cell biology at the whole cell level and to discover novel drug molecules with specific mode of action. Future directions of RWG biosensors, label-free biosensors in general, are also discussed.
