Temperature-dependent refractive index measurement for optical fiber using a long-period fiber grating

Abstract

A novel method to measure the thermo-optic coefficient of a fiber is proposed. Thermo-optic coefficients of a boron co-doped germanosilicate-core fiber and a germanosilicate-core fiber are measured by using a pair of long-period fiber gratings.
