Abstract

We report on the first observation of optical signal amplification in visible range in praseodymium doped ZBLA glass channel waveguides obtained by ionic exchange. Up to 30% signal amplification at 639.5 nm was obtained. This result show the ability of rare earth doped fluoride glasses channel waveguide to serve as active materials for integrated solid state laser sources.
