Efficient, Resonantly Cladding-Pumped, Yb-Free, Er-Doped FBG Laser

Abstract

Ultra-low quantum defect (~3.75%) operation of the resonantly cladding-pumped Er-doped fiber laser with 47.6 W of 1590-nm output was obtained with ~56.6% efficiency. This is the highest power reported for Yb-free, Er-doped LMA fiber laser.
