Yb-Doped Sesquioxide Ceramics: Temperature Dependent Laser Performance and Spectroscopy

Abstract

We observe that laser performance improves far more upon cooling to liquid nitrogen temperature in ceramic Yb:Y2O3 than in Yb:Sc2O3. Differences in the temperature dependence of their spectra suggest a possible reason for this difference.
