Abstract
A femtosecond fiber amplifier with a 26-µm mode-field-diameter erbium-ytterbium-codoped air-clad photonic-crystal fiber is presented. 700-fs pulses at 1557nm were amplified to 7.2-nJ, 120-fs pulses without chirped-pulse amplification. Double-pass configuration enabled perfect single polarization output.
