Abstract

Amplification of femtosecond pulses directly from a fiber oscillator in a truly single-mode fiber amplifier to ~100 nJ is demonstrated. Its simplicity and robustness renders the laser attractive for certain applications, such as micromachining and seeding of amplifiers.
