Abstract

Spectroscopic and emission decay investigation of Nd3+ or (Nd3+, Yb3+) doped highly transparent Sc2O3 ceramics evidence highly efficient Nd-to-Yb energy transfer and indicates that these materials have potential for new Nd or Nd-sensitised Yb lasers.
