Abstract

A high-energy, high-average-power zig-zag slab laser for high-intensity laser-driven applications is being demonstrated by 800 kW peak pump power from total 8,000 diode bars. The novel thermally-edge controlled slab amplifier in the multi-pass laser architecture generates a 20-J pulse energy in10 ns at 10 Hz with 5 times diffraction limited beam quality.
