Abstract

Spectroscopic and emission decay investigation of Nd or (Nd,Yb) doped highly transparent Sc2O3 ceramics evidence highly efficient Nd-to-Yb energy transfer and indicates that these materials have potential for new Nd or Nd-sensitised Yb lasers.
