Abstract
A new geometrical multi-pass design for thin disk lasers allows the amplification of high-energy pulses in a nearly arbitrary number of amplification passes with only 13 optical elements. A pulse energy of 11.6 mJ at a repetition rate of 1 kHz has been demonstrated in 48 amplification passes.
